Autumn is earth. The ground is cooling, and our crops are harvested. We don’t have a deciduous autumn, with red and orange leaves, but the trees do change. The odd tree turns, and there is more colour than our usual grey-gum-green in the trees. Stones and earth seem to me to be a natural pairing, which leads to the association with the traditional suit of pentacles.

Six of Autumn

Seagulls, gathered, just off shore at Wellington Point. Which bird are you? It really doesn’t matter, actually. If you have something to give you can be the bird on the rock. Hand out your gifts, be they tangible or something more precious, to those who are in need. If you’re in need, can you see the bird on the rock? He’ll be there. Can you imagine an elephant on his back with his feet in the air? Neither could he. Or if he could, he’d rather you didn’t, thank you very much. He’ll keep that side of himself private. Don’t be afraid to let go and have fun. But there is a time and a place for it.…
